Adopt a Pet: Animal Shelters Near Kips Bay
April 30th is National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day, a day created to raise awareness for the millions of animals waiting for their forever homes. If you feel it's the right time in your life to adopt a pet, give these local NYC shelters a try.
1. Bideawee
For more than 115 years, Bideawee has rescued, cared for, and placed homeless cats and dogs with people who love them. The adoption center's "Matchmakers" know the personalities and needs of each animal to help find a dog that is right for you.
2. Social Tees Animal Rescue
Social Tees in the East Village (NYC) takes abandoned animals from kill shelters and provides them with veterinary care before placing them in good forever homes. The organization rescues, rehabilitates, and places over 3,000 dogs, cats, birds, and exotics per year; all dogs and cats rescued are neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and more.
3. Animal Haven
Animal Haven is a nonprofit organization that finds homes for abandoned cats and dogs throughout the Tri-State area. The rescue takes in animals in all phases of life (young, old, healthy, sick), gives them all a second chance and does not give up on them.
4. Muddy Paws Rescue
Muddy Paws Rescue is a foster-based dog rescue that takes the time to make sure adopters get the right match. The organization hosts adoption events almost every week in Manhattan and finds "fur-ever" homes for thousands of pets each year.
Love dogs but aren't ready for a commitment? Become a foster parent. Muddy Paws Rescue has no physical shelter, so every pup’s life-saving journey starts with a foster home. Fostering is a very rewarding experience for people who are not ready to adopt but want to help save a dog's life.
A dog or puppy is a huge commitment of time, money, and energy, so you need to make sure that you're ready before you bring a pet home. If you are prepared to give your heart and home to a pet in need, Kips Bay Court's pet-friendly apartments in NYC are well-suited for pet owners and furry friends. Click here to learn more.
